Orcs and goblins – batallion and battle march army

My goal is to have a 1500-2000p army but right now I’m focusing on getting a battle march ready army for about 750p. So I made a list and picked out the figures I needed for that.

Further progress on my orc boar chariot.

I also thought of using my black orcs that I’ve already painted.

But it turns out they need a black orc boss and generally uses too many points from the fairly small battle march army.

Here I’ve put all the orc spear boys on a piece of styrofoam. Getting ready for primer.

I had a bit of a misshap with the primer, or while painting it. I didn’t notice until too late that the locking nut for the needle wasn’t fastened properly. I also shouldn’t have put the figures that close, making it hard to reach quite a few spots.

I removed them and painted the missing spots with a large brush and somewhat diluted primer.

I choose to use Warboss green as a base for their skin. The first few painted.

Then the day after the rest of them.

I painted Skarsnik green as a layer on top of the Warboss green. Then I used Whaagh flesh to darken some shadows. In order to bind the colours I did a wash with Biel-tan green.
The one to the left just got the was over the warboss green.

Someone suggested that I possibly could us some kind of war machine, but that didn’t work.
I started building them anyway. First I built my rock lobber. Always a bit harder with metal pieces but the fit was fairly good.

Here I did a test fit with the goblins pushing down the “wrench”.

After marking and making a hole for the slot, I managed to fit them quite well.

For some reason a few bases have gone missing. I have to sort that later somehow.

Meanwhile I decided to build the goblin doomseeker catapult as well.

I had a little problem with the sling. If I put the tabs in their holes it didn’t center.

And when centered, it didn’t fit the holes on both sides.

After some careful bending I managed to get it fairly centered, and I also managed to fit the rope pulling goblings with the hook in the hole in the sling.

So now both war machines just need primer and some paint. And of course some bases for the figures.
